大馬設計師Melinda Looi與名模Amber Chia於香港Zalora首次推出新春時裝ML x AC

她們，一位是創意無限的大馬服裝設計師 Melinda Looi；一位是大馬第一名模 Amber Chia。緣分，使原本毫不相識的兩人成為好朋友，也賦予她們創作的靈感 -- 以「緣」為主題的「美麗情緣」風格服飾，即將於春節引起本地時裝界的注目。這個由緣分促成的「天作之合」，她們將之命名為 MLxAC (「Melinda Looi and Amber Chia」,簡稱為「ML and AC」)。

ML x AC 系列採用多元面料突顯豐富質感，再加上了亮麗歡樂的彩色圖騰，以呈現一些百搭而又不會過時的設計。它一定能陪伴顧客落落大方地出席大大小小的場合。

Melinda 表示：「我們的新年願望總離不開財富、健康與成就。但是，我們都忽略了，那些陪在我們身邊的人，才是我們最珍貴的財富。為此，我們設計了這系列服飾，為擁有親情、友情等所有美麗情緣開心慶祝一番。」

緣分又是如何將 Melinda 和 Amber 聯繫在一起呢？回首到2000年，兩人仍是時裝界新人，彼時相識，一路奮鬥、成長，至今已在各自的領域闖出一片天，因此分外惺惺相惜。

Melinda 開心地說：「認識 Amber 這麼久了，卻未曾正式合作。因此，當我們有了這個靈感，我們都認為新春佳節是『緣』來的较好的時機！因為新年正是歡聚的節日。」

Amber 附和：「如果不是緣分，就不會有這次的合作！我一直想參與服裝設計。很幸運的，我身邊有這麼一位著名服裝設計師、又是我好朋友 Melinda，一起實現我的新年願望！」

穿上「美麗情緣」，感恩美好情緣

「美麗情緣」系列設計比一般春節服飾更具個性。首先，此設計採用了多元面料，突顯豐富質感，加上亮麗歡樂的彩色圖騰，使整個設計翩翩帶出生活中所接觸的各種人與格的比喻。

Melinda 和 Amber 在構想之時，腦海中穿梭著儷人於生活中每一個情節的倩影。Amber 說：「今日的女性喜歡一些百搭而又不會過時的設計。以我為例，我有一件唐裝夾克，在很多重要的場合，無論是工作或私人聚會，我會以牛仔褲或者禮服搭配這件夾克，因為它真的很百搭。雖然是唐裝設計，但在春節或其他時候都帶得出場。」

從傳統而雅致的旗袍、具東方風情的青春小洋裝、自在舒服的A形上衣，到適合辦公室穿著兼具時尚剪裁的汗衫與褲子，MLxAC一定能陪伴顧客落落大方地出席大大小小的場合。

緣分神奇之處，在於它充滿驚喜，就像 MLxAC 和 Zalora 擦出的美麗火花。亞洲较大時尚購物網 Zalora 是 MLxAC 的指定在線伙伴，而 MLxAC 也將成為首個出現在 Zalora（馬來西亞、新加坡、汶萊和香港）的設計師/名人新春服飾。

Melinda 和 Amber 不約而同表示：「我們希望我們的設計讓穿著的每一個人如沐春風、心情愉悅，因為我們正是帶著這樣的心情設計的。」

ABOUT MELINDA LOOI

Melinda Looi started her journey on a scholarship at the La Salle School of Fashion in Montreal, Canada. It was her graduation collection in 1995 that catapulted her into the spotlight, earning her the Malaysia Young Designer Award 1995 in Kuala Lumpur.

Melinda has also been involved in various stage productions in Malaysia, as well as the television and film industry in Canada. She has consistently proven her ability and creativity through many awards locally and internationally, especially the prestigious Designer of the Year Award, in 2004 and 2006 at the Malaysian International Fashion Awards, and once again in 2009 at the Mercedes Benz STYLO Fashion Awards.

Melinda’s latest accolades include the nomination for Fashion Designer of the Year at the 3DPS Awards 2013 in London, UK.  She will also be presenting Malaysia at the World Fashion Awards and World Fashion Week to be held in Paris in 2014 as well as showcasing one of her couture creations as part of World Fashion Exhibition, at various international fashion weeks.

Today, Melinda Looi has three distinct brands to her name, which are: Melinda Looi Couture, Melinda Looi Pret-a-Porter, and MELL Basics, consisting of must-have basics made from certified Organic Cotton -- the first in Malaysia.

Besides working on her own fashion labels, Melinda is also involved in numerous and very diverse collaborations reaching from charities and eco-friendly events to art projects, as well as collaborations with international brands and corporates such as L'Oreal , Levi's, Nando's, and many others.
